DIA MOURNS LOSS OF DISTRICT ATTORNEY KENNETH THOMPSON

October 9, 2016

The DIA, the union representing all detectives employed by the five District Attorneys & Special Narcotics Prosecutor issued the following statement upon learning of the untimely death of Brooklyn DA Kenneth P. Thompson.

DIA President John Fleming stated, “The entire DIA family mourns the untimely death of DA Ken Thompson. During his short reign at Brooklyn he was the catalyst for many positive changes to the detective investigators unit and the office as a whole. His visions for a more proactive office lead to the creation of units which broke new ground in the criminal justice system.”

Fleming went on to say that Thompson invested heavily in his detectives, providing unparallel training and investigative opportunities. He cited the revamped Conviction Integrity Unit which used veteran detectives to work alongside prosecutors to ensure justice was served. He also mentioned the intensive investment in training and promotional opportunities for his members.

The DIA prays for his family and friends and pledge our full support to the administration as we face the upcoming challenges together.
