The NYPD Pistol License Bureau has instituted a new procedure for renewing NYC retiree licenses.
A pistol license can only be renewed through a computer and the license holder must have an email address.
Here are the instructions provided by the NYPD License Bureau:

INSTRUCTIONS TO START A RENEWAL APPLICATION

1) Go to the website, licensing.nypdonline.org

2) Click on REGISTER

3) Click on REDEEM INVITATION

4) Enter social security number and pin number and Click REDEEM.

5) Enter your email and create a password.
Your password must contain a minimum of 9 characters, using a capital letter, a number and a symbol. For example Johnjsmith9*

6) Retype the code from the picture and click SUBMIT.

STOP

7) The system will now send you an email to the email you provided in step 5 and you will now click on the words “COMPLETE REGISTRATION”

8) Go back to the website, licensing.nypdonline.org and click on SIGN IN.
a. Enter your email and the password you created in STEP 5.
b. Now click on “START NEW”
*If you stop half way through the application you may sign back in later and continue by clicking on “IN PROGRESS”

LIST OF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS/FORMS FOR RETIREE HAND GUN RENEWAL APPLICATION
1. Affirmation of Familiarity with Rules and Law
2. Request for Public Records Exemption.
3. Copy of current Firearm License front and back
4. *Change of Address/Employment only if there was a change since last renewal
5. Two (2) photos of safe opened and closed if Licensee possesses (5) or more firearms

*Please be advised if a change of address/employment form is needed, a utility bill must be included and uploaded. In the event the utility bill is under another name, please submit a utility bill from that person along with a notarized letter stating you (Licensee) reside with them.

*Under the co-habitant box please upload any additional forms required: Affirmation of Familiarity with Rules and Law, Picture of Safe Opened and Closed if more than (5) Firearms, and a photo of Pistol License Front and Back.

• When mailing in your passport size photo, please make sure it is in color with nothing in the background and include on the back: Last Name, License & Application # and DOB.
